You get energized when you feel you are doing things that make sense and fit with your understanding of yourself, others and the world. You can achieve a healthy lifestyle through theoretical problem solving to initiate and sustain healthy habits.

Identify your motivation through logical reasoning and committing to the habit change based on impersonal analysis. Make sure you understand how your new action plan fits with your goals and agree with the change. Look for possible consequences of making the change and how it will affect your life. Try to see your health habit situation as an impartial observer. What would that observer say and what might he suggest?

Develop a plan with an open schedule and has lots of flexibility within broad parameters. Make sure you understand the scientific reasons behind the healthy foods, recipes and exercises you choose and their effect on your body. Learn in-depth or scientific information about your choices. But also select activities that you feel are interesting and fun challenges. Compete against your own record or achievements.

As you proceed with activities in your plan, find energy to pursue it by doing regular solitary activities and reflection. Use your creativity to keep activities varied and allow you to explore. Take advantage of the freedom of doing outdoor activities. With a trusted someone brainstorm and identify alternative ways to achieve your health plans that allow for spontaneous actions.  Look for patterns in your habits that may get you off track.

If you encounter setbacks, analyze what happened. What went wrong and what went right? Look for patterns. And adjust your next step accordingly. Include in your revised plan the most logically appealing activities—one that will give you the most benefit. But make sure to choose a plan you are confident you can do and that is flexible.
